Group life Insurance:
A death in the family is a devastating event. But there's no reason it needs
to devastate the family financially. Anthem Life's group life insurance products
are an affordable way to help employees provide financial security for their loved
ones. Employers choose from a variety of coverage and options to design a
competitive benefit plan that fits their needs and budget. The employer selects
the coverage and benefit amounts their plan will offer, and pays all or part of the
premium for basic employee life and AD&D coverage. This section includes Group
Term Life Insurance and Group Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance(AD & D).
1) Group term life insurance
Anthem Life's group term life insurance does a lot for something so simple and affordable.
For pennies on the dollar, employees can be covered for a designated benefit amount or a multiple of salary.
Our standard plans include special features for added protection. Waiver of premium provisions
can continue coverage without further premium payments, for employees who become totally disabled. Living benefit
provisions allow employees to receive up to 50% of their death benefit in advance, if they are diagnosed as
terminally ill (less than 12 months to live). Additional conditions may qualify for living benefits in some states.
Basic employee coverage is just the beginning. It's easy to extend that coverage by offering employees the opportunity
to buy group term life insurance for their dependent spouses and children, or supplemental group term life insurance for themselves
2) Group accidental death and dismemberment
insurance (AD&D)
Our group accidental death and dismemberment insurance provides additional
benefits to help families deal with the sudden and unexpected needs
that may arise if an employee has a serious accident.
The accidental death benefit is usually equal to the employee's
group term life insurance benefit amount. The accidental death benefit may be
increased by up to 10% if the employee dies in an auto accident while wearing a seat belt.
If the employee loses his or her sight or loses one or more limbs as a result of an accident,
a percentage of the death benefit (typically 50% to 100%) is payable.
If the benefit plan offers supplemental group term life insurance, the employer can choose to include supplemental AD&D.
In that case, the coverage will automatically include supplemental AD&D equal to the employee's supplemental life benefit.
3)Group Disability Insurance
No one plans to be disabled. But accidents and illnesses do happen, and they may confine someone
to bed for weeks.or longer. Our disability insurance plans help replace income so employees can focus
on what's most important - getting better.
When their benefit plan includes Anthem Life's group disability insurance products,
employers know they are offering a competitive benefit package that not only protects employees
and their families, but also helps attract and retain excellent employees. Group Disability Insurance can
be classified into Group Short Term Disability Insurance and Group Long Term Disability Insurance.
