Affiliation period - Affiliation period is the period of expire time which covers the health insurance coverage provided by health maintenance organization (HMO) to make it effective. Affiliation period covers the health insurance under the plan. Benefits - Benefit is the amount payable by the insurance company to the beneficiary when the insured suffer loss. Benefits period - The amount of benefit paid by the insurance company to the beneficiary within the specified time is called as benefits period. Certificate of Creditable Coverage - Group insurance plan issues a written certificate stating that the period of time covered by the health plan. COBRA - COBRA refers to federal law which offers rights to group health plan coverage to temporary continuation for certain employees, retirees and family members at group rates when coverage is lost due to certain qualifying events. Covered Employee - An employee who is anticipated with the coverage from the group health plan is subject to COBRA when he is employed by one or more persons maintaining the group health plan is said to be covered employee. Creditable Coverage - Creditable coverage covers the previous health insurance coverage which comprises of the pre-existing waiting period. If the policy holder have previous health insurance plan without any break in the coverage, then such coverage is called as creditable coverage. Deductible - Deductible refers to an amount paid to the health care prior to any plan amount paid. The deductible amount differs every year and also for each insurance plan. Drug List - Group health plan comes up with the coverage for the medicines listed in the drug list. Enrollment Date - Enrollment date is said to be the beginning date of the coverage and the date you are eligible for coverage. ERISA - ERISA is the federal law imposed to regulate the employee benefit plan like group health plan and to offer protection for employees and their families. |
