Most of the dental diseases are preventable, at a least amount of cost and effort. Hence, dental coverage should have a preventive orientation at all times. Dental disease generally progresses slowly. The highest percentage of dental care is rendered by only one practitioner at a single site. Almost every dental care is done on an out-patient basis. There is no central facility, like a hospital, where dentists interact on a daily basis. The average annual amount of money used up per person for dental care in the United States is comparatively very small, even if restorative work is necessary. Dental care amounts to nearly 5% of annual healthcare expenditures in the United States.
