When the employees participate in the personal electronic health care records, they have a good health and are fruitful in their work. Since the employees are looking after their electronic health care records, the employer's health care costs can be reduced. Cisco who started this pilot project was able to save more than $36,000 they were putting in. Palo Alto medical foundation has nearly 600 employees in this program. The cost of this program was that the networking equipment supplier paid a $60 per year as subscription service and $5 each month for an employee. The results are amazing because 61% of employees were happy visiting the physicians when they were online and 72 percent have reduced the number of office visits. Kaiser Permanente has spent nearly $3 billion in this information technology system. In northern California there are nearly 6,000 doctors and they look after 3.3 million patients. Out of those only 1.5 million patients, contact their physicians online. Through this program the patients give importance to their health without wasting the doctor's time and their time.
The Palo Alto medical foundation has patient base online. The foundation keeps two types of components: an electronic health care record and the other being a personal health record system that can be used by patient. The electronic prescription reduces prescription errors because it becomes hard to understand physician handwriting.
