Kaiser Permanente has announced a new health plan for uninsured families. This health plan is introduced for those who change their jobs. For individuals it costs as little as $20 a month. This plan was introduced as there is demand for low-cost medical insurance due to financial crisis. It is also targeting families who have difficult making ends meet. Bridge plan members receive quality medical care from Kaiser-affiliated doctors and other medical professionals in the community at substantially reduced monthly premiums. Kaiser subsidizes 90 or 95 percent of the total premium, based upon their economic situation.
In 2006, 1,800 people were enrolled and Kaiser invested over $7.5 million in their care. The bridge plan helps families who are facing problems with the financial barrier to health care. If you are enrolled once, members can enjoy basic and preventive care, in-patient care, health education classes and other services provided by Kaiser. To enjoy the benefits of this plan the applicants must live in Washington and Baltimore.
