According to a study, nearly 20 percent of workers do not have healthcare coverage. In mid-1990s about 14 percent workers were uninsured. The main reason for high uninsured rates today is cost.
Premium amount is increasing six to eight times faster than wages. Currently, about 26.9 million workers are uninsured. Twenty percent of the working age population is uninsured in 14 states. Income and payroll taxes are paying health coverage for poor, senior citizens and children of low income working parents.
