What students should do if health affects their
studies during the term?
The mission of Anthem blue cross health insurance student includes the holistic

with that objective, the University encourages students to take responsibility
when health or personal problems affect their academic performance.
If students miss any type of course work, they are urged to notify their
professors at the time of the illness or problem. Together, they should

to seek a solution as soon as possible.
What students should do if health concerns
affect their ability to write their final exam?
In all cases of illness, a doctor's certificate explicitly covering
inability to write the examination on the day of writing must be submitted
to the Registrar before the end of the examination period. A student
in this situation should contact the Registrar as soon as possible.
Emergencies:
For emergencies that are life threatening or extremely serious, students
should proceed to the Emergency Department. For emergency transportation,
students should call an ambulance (911). Note: An ambulance ride costs
as much as $650 for out-of-province students. It is recommended that
students purchase a health insurance plan that covers this cost.
Non-emergencies:
For conditions requiring immediate attention (e.g., cuts requiring stitches,
abdominal pain, etc.), students can seek first aid from Residence Staff,
the Student Health Center. Students may also consult their private physicians
and nurses if they have a health insurance policy.
General Illness:
For influenza, fevers, severe colds, or any sudden change in health,
students can contact the Registered Nurse/Educator at the Anthem blue cross
Student Health Insurance Center. If a student cannot keep a scheduled
appointment with any of these health professionals, he/she should notify
prior as soon as possible. Many doctors charge a fee for missed appointments.
Travel vaccines for students:
For anyone requiring travel vaccine services, it is mandatory that you
provide your immunization history records prior to travel consultation.
Travel vaccines are not covered under provincial health plans.
